Yahoo mail account security issue!

Recently I got on to the Yahoo web page and started to sign into my Yahoo email account. There was a display that there is an 'Account security issue'!

Worried I proceeded further to sign in. But the mail inbox was obscured with a display in front of it. It required me to read about the issue and secure my account.

On clicking on the OK button, I was lead to the 'Yahoo Security Notice' page. It said that there was security issue with the accounts of certain Yahoo user accounts, and then had given FAQs on the issue and the steps to be taken by the user to protect account; that was followed by the information on the data security issue given by the company.

Next on clicking the 'What happened?' FAQ, I read that data of more than one billion user accounts had been stolen!

I wanted to know also the company's statement on the issue, dated 22 September 2016. It intimated that some third party intruder had forged cookies and accessed users accounts without a password!

After reading all these I hurried to protect my account with new password as instructed by the Yahoo Help Page. Then I received the following display.

OK. Do you have a yahoo mail account? First check your secondary mail inbox for any mail from Yahoo relating to your Yahoo account security. And then proceed immediately to protect your Yahoo account.

Securing FaceBook account by phone number!

FaceBook is said to be not a safe place to either show your phone number or place your's or others' phone numbers in its posts. Recently, there was also options in WhatsApp (which is now with FaceBook) to opt for using phone number for FaceBook's advertisement purpose. In such a situation, a display in the FaceBook account was shown up that told an account holder to help him to secure his FaceBook account!
Could it be a securing option or anything else after availing this help, it is anybody's guess!

Logging in Gmail by a 'Hijacker'!

Read here how helpful and sensitive is the Google Accounts team! I logged in the Gmail account to find that I am not allowed for accessing it! I doubted my logging in procedure and tried logging in into it again and again twice; but failed to access my account! I thought that somebody might have hijacked my account, and hence became depressed. But here too Google offered a help for me in this. There was a message starting with 'Oops!' and a link offering the help. Through the link I was advised that I might have disabled 'Cookies' and to enable the Cookies in the Settings. I tried next this enabling of Cookies without any hope; but found it work surprisingly that I could access my account with my next logging in! I thanked God for it. What mistake could I have done? I thought about it and after a while I found it: I had cleared the Cookies by using the Clear Browsing Data after my previous logging in into my account! That played such a havoc in accessing my account!
Later on, when I checked my secondary mail inbox, I found an email from the Google Accounts team about logging in to my account by some 'hijacker,' with advice to reset the password immediately!

A recurring dialogue box!

I gave connection to my computer with my mobile phone through an USB. I clicked on the phone's contacts data. But after that a dialogue box came on the desktop screen. Even if I closed it by clicking on the Cancel or X of it, it recurred. Later so many of the same box appeared like stacked playing cards one after the other with my closing each one of it! I wondered whether it could be due to a virus playing this card! But when I restarted the computer all those dialogue boxes were gone! I heaved a sigh of relief. Do you know anything about it? Or had you a similar experience? Share it here for me and the blog readers.

Performance as new from an aged computer!

Desktop computers start to get problems in three years of their purchase. My computer had problems either one after the other at a time, or had combined-in-one as problem that made me much frustrated when repairing it. But I found out now that it can do perform to its best as a new one by simply replacing a few of its low performing parts, plastic parts, and checking & tightening the contacts! Read here about what I did for it!
I found the computer to restart often. While checking the Bios, it gave the information that the processor temperature is gradually increasing to 100' C and above! And that there is no Hard disc at all in the CPU! So, I replaced first the processor cooling fan that has slowed down in its speed. Next, I

replaced the UPS itself, as its plastic parts had turned brittle making electric sparks at the contact points. Then I found the wire bundles hanging loosely lower down in the space inside the CPU; they obstructed the free airflow from the side wise cooling fan on to the processor fan. So, I fastened that wire bundle with a twine to the hardware fitting frame. When I inspected the hard disc area, I noted the contact wires to be loosely fitting with it. I had purchased earlier a new contact wire and connected it with the hard disc, replacing the old one. It is an incompatibly of newer wiring products with that of the older version hard discs! I connected the plug head of the wire with a twine tightly fastening to the hardware fitting frame. Now, the plug fitted snugly within the socket of the hard disc. Hoping next nothing out of my efforts, I started the computer. I was surprised!

The computer worked by itself! No restarting problem! Extended hours of work - more than four hours and longer surpassing laptops! Bios too confirmed the lower cooled down temperature of processor and the presence of hard disc!

Announcement for alerting and for upgrading!

It is really great to announce in advance about the declining speed of Internet; it is also more great to request the customer for either retaining the slowed down speed or for upgrading it to sustain the prior good speed of the Internet! View here the announcement box of the Internet service provider, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited)!

While I was browsing the Internet, suddenly this web page of BSNL appeared blocking my browsing! To warn or alert the customer it is being done. But I wonder how far this can help customers who doesn't read or ignore or don't know even the English language at all!

An email lures you into its trap!

I received an email recently that lured with many benefits of the 'Signature credit card' and also declared that the credit card gets instant approval on applying online for it! I can get those benefits simply clicking on the 'Apply Online' given in that mail! Is it so simple to receive the credit card, or is it a hacking for knowing particulars through such trap, I wonder!

On browsing with the URL, (www.hoolygoolyapp.com) that the email seemed to originate, it was found leading to a website of an online fashion store only!

All other features of that email resembled to that of the credit card's bank! Moreover, I am getting yet such more emails from that same email id but with different wordings in their title, subject and contents!
