Changing Google Docs!

I do not know whether it is a mere coincidence or not. When I started to open and have the old version of Google Docs for typing my new blog article, I find that my way of blogging through the Google Docs with its old version will not work any more. Only in my previous post I had informed you all about my way of blogging. Now the Google Docs has done away with its old version. Frustrated I have now moved to type in the Blogger Post editor. It is easy to type but it has taken about two hours to publish it to the blog now! It had then taken only twenty minutes to publish through old version of Google Docs. OK. Times are changing as do principles and policies. Let us adapt to these changes and blog our experiences with the web & computers.

Getting the old but golden Google Docs!

Old is gold always for the Bloggers using Google Docs! But it is not easy now to get the old version of Google Docs. Then how Bloggers like me get the old version? Read here the way that I follow routinely whenever I prepare a document for publishing it in a blog as a blog post:
Sign in Google Docs --> click on the white wheel of Options --> select New Features! in the list --> scroll down to New Google document graduates --> click Learn more in it --> The New version of Google documents --> click on the link given at the foot of the page --> old version of Google Docs opens in a separate tab!
But as I have found it tedious to go through all these steps for getting the old version, now I choose this easy way of short cut: open a new tab by clicking '+' on the bar (Mozilla Firefox) --> copy and paste the URL (obtained in the above said way, copied and saved already in a Word file for use at each time!) and get the old version!

MyBlogLog discotinues on Web

I received an email from MyBlogLog, the social network for bloggers, with a service announcement that Yahoo! MyBlogLog is going to be discontinued soon! On signing in my account with it, I found there a notice displayed, that informed me that MyBlogLog will be no longer on the Web from 24 May 2011.

I feel that I am going to lose a good and attractive widget that shows all those visitors viewing my blogs. Moreover, I will not find my icon (avtar) appear instantly on the MyBlogLog widgets of the blogs that I visit after 24 May 2011. Should bloggers lose MyBlogLog?

Think about this and ways to retain MyBlogLog. Share your views here.

Double keys for Gmail account safety!

In these days of much email usage hacking of passwords is frequent. So, security of email accounts has become of utmost importance to everybody using them. Gmail has come forward to offer its users a safe and secure process like that used by Internet banking services. It is a two step verification feature that identifies you as the real owner of the account. The first verification is done by using the password that you enter and the second one is done with a code sent by Google to your mobile phone through SMS. To opt for this double security service, enter 'Using 2-Step verification' through your Account settings, Personal settings and Security. It takes about only 15 minutes for the enrolling process. After enabling the verification, each time you log in a code will be requested. Then the code sent to the mobile should be entered before being allowed into the account usage.

Defying Malware's urging!

As I was searching for images in Google.com with the search words, ‘Spit bugs’, I clicked on an image that displayed a dracula-like woman. It led me through a website (www.dale.se/msi-aquatic-bugs/) to another one (www.islandeyes.com). Then a web page that exactly resembled MY COMPUTER page (of Windows XP) appeared. In it each folder was shown in red coloured words to have a varying quantity of viruses. Then, a dialogue box opened and urged to click on the ‘remove’ button to remove all those viruses from the folders! I was worried and stunned first. But I then deleted the page by clicking on the Close button (X). I scanned the computer for any infecting viruses. But there were no viruses at all. That proved that there was a malware or a spy ware programme. To get a screen-shot of the website, I repeated all it again. But I could not get that web page again! Do you have such an experience? Share it with me.
