Right click on the file icon to get Properties from the drop down list. In the Properties, near 'Opens with:' click on the 'Change.....' tab to get the 'Open With' dialogue box. Now you get the 'Choose the Program to open this file' option. In the list select Microsoft Office Word and click OK, and close the Properties. Now double click on the file icon and see that the file now opens in Word, and rejoice in reading it!
