As I opened my computer, there was an alert message saying that there is a malware in the computer and the Windows Defender is taking action to remove it. When I checked the Windows Defender, it showed in its History tab that there are two malwares and both are quarantined. I hurriedly removed them both under Quarantined items and the All detected items and was happy about my action. But when I started the computer in the next session, the alert message came on again as the computer is affected with malware! I Googled and found the first one, Win32/Gamarue.gen!A to be a worm that replicates itself and infects all computers it gets access to. Yes, I got it through my USB that I used to get a print-out from a computer centre! Microsoft website simply advised me to remove it by its Windows Defender Antivirus software, that hadn't worked in my case. Then, I accessed a blog in Malware Tips.Com that came into rescue of my computer from this nuisance, the worm infection. I clicked the Open menu in the right corner of the Mozilla Firefox and clicked on the Open Help Menu. It led me to a list. In the list clicked on Troubleshooting Information. On a box that displayed, Refresh Firefox, I clicked. That's all. The browser was refreshed. Next time when I started the computer, this worm didn't return to infect my computer! But what about the other malware that was first detected by my Windows Defender? That is to be my next post's content - content of discussion only!

Why does my computer show different date and time?
My desktop computer behaved differently: it refused to boot normally; restarted often before its starting up. Then, in a day it refused to open up with the following display on its monitor before its opening up:
The firmware has detected that a CMOS battery failure occurred.
Press the Enter key to continue.
On Googling with the above sentence and the word, CMOS, I found out that there will be also an error in date and time display due to low voltage from CMOS battery. And that that CMOS battery has to be replaced with a new one to restore the computer to its normal functioning. I found the date and time malfunctioning as said! I adjusted it to the correct displaying. But the malfunctioning continued! The next day, the computer refused to start showing that same display on the screen. I rushed to the stores and bought this large-sized button cell, the so called CMOS battery and replaced the old one with it. And now hurray! The computer booted and started up. I adjusted the clock to the correct date and time. There was no malfunctioning of the clock too!

Performance as new from an aged computer!
Desktop computers start to get problems in three years of their purchase. My computer had problems either one after the other at a time, or had combined-in-one as problem that made me much frustrated when repairing it. But I found out now that it can do perform to its best as a new one by simply replacing a few of its low performing parts, plastic parts, and checking & tightening the contacts! Read here about what I did for it!
I found the computer to restart often. While checking the Bios, it gave the information that the processor temperature is gradually increasing to 100' C and above! And that there is no Hard disc at all in the CPU! So, I replaced first the processor cooling fan that has slowed down in its speed. Next, I
replaced the UPS itself, as its plastic parts had turned brittle making electric sparks at the contact points. Then I found the wire bundles hanging loosely lower down in the space inside the CPU; they obstructed the free airflow from the side wise cooling fan on to the processor fan. So, I fastened that wire bundle with a twine to the hardware fitting frame. When I inspected the hard disc area, I noted the contact wires to be loosely fitting with it. I had purchased earlier a new contact wire and connected it with the hard disc, replacing the old one. It is an incompatibly of newer wiring products with that of the older version hard discs! I connected the plug head of the wire with a twine tightly fastening to the hardware fitting frame. Now, the plug fitted snugly within the socket of the hard disc. Hoping next nothing out of my efforts, I started the computer. I was surprised!
The computer worked by itself! No restarting problem! Extended hours of work - more than four hours and longer surpassing laptops! Bios too confirmed the lower cooled down temperature of processor and the presence of hard disc!

Fusing Electronics with Electricity!
My computer was restarting often, unusually. I went on and on checking all the computer parts for defects in the materials or the functionality. But I could not make out anything; all were well in shape and fitness. Later on, I heard some crackling noise coming from the back of the computer as soon as I started it. I went behind the computer and 'found' the site of the sound! Yes, it came from the back of UPS where I could see sparks! But it was not from the Mains - power supply connection. But it was from the fuse carrier
plug! On close observation I found the plastic head of the fuse carrier cracked - probably from jamming against the wall behind; the miniature fuse inside the carrier has become loose and the spring under it could not hold it tightly - thereby making an improper connection to the UPS! That's the matter. When I replaced that defective fuse carrier, the computer was happy & started to function well with a smile, cheering me. So, have in mind that computer parts alone should not be checked in the trouble-shooting exercise. As an electrician could have found out and corrected such problems, try to be an electrical expert too in DIY - to avoid your such nutty conditions made by Electronics!

Making computer fit again!
For the past four months I found my computer in repaired condition quite often. I could not continue using it, as whenever I started to use it, it went off. The matter was that its hard disc drive had become old enough to be replaced with a new one. The problem was noted when the computer went to the status of showing up these messages like 'Start windows normally' etc. repeatedly - that too as soon as it booted or even before it booted! I tried all measures that I came to know - like removing any unused/defective DVD-RW, etc.; but all of them failed. Computer mechanic was called; he tried by removing the Operating System and installing a new one; as this too was a failure, he replaced the Hard Disc Drive (HDD) with a new one. But even that too failed frustrating the mechanic himself. Puzzled, he then carried the CPU to his worktable and tweaked it; after two or three attempts he was successful somehow and brought back the CPU with a triumphant smile on his face. Now I have my computer as it was four years back in a fit condition - to blog again!

Computer restarting problem, Start normally!
It was an irritating affair for me for the past three months: my computer failed in the middle of surfing the Internet - not once; but went on so repeatedly: the computer screen displayed the next three options for proceeding further; the first one was 'Start windows normally.' Whenever I selected this 'Start windows normally' and entered, the session lasted only for a few minutes and went on again to display those three options for starting the computer! I learnt from this that whenever I hit the Enter key as soon as the options are displayed, the session lasted for more minutes than before; but this technique too failed in the next such few attempts. What has happened to the computer? I searched in the Internet for tips and applied my elementary knowledge; but it also failed. Computer mechanic too went on postponing, for long, his attending to this problem. My son found out the culprit causing this repeated restarting nuisance. Yes, it is only the wooly dust that had totally blocked the fins' spaces of Processor cooling-fan-motor-heatsink.
After clearing all these dust with a brush, the computer behaved itself normally - restored to its normalcy - without any repeated nuisance of displaying 'Start windows normally':) How could have such a large amount of dust gone inside for blocking? Probably, it was due to the daily sweeping of the room floor when the computer was on for working on it.What do you think about it? Any suggestions regarding this?

Tips to unlock the Word file!
Sometimes you might have come across problems in opening and reading a Word Document file. You may have seen squares and other geometrical figures replace the text contents. After all manipulations inside the document you may have become frustrated with your failed efforts - as I was then. But I found out a way to convert these gibberish figures into readable text. Right click on the file icon to get Properties from the drop down list. In the Properties, near 'Opens with:' click on the 'Change.....' tab to get the 'Open With' dialogue box. Now you get the 'Choose the Program to open this file' option. In the list select Microsoft Office Word and click OK, and close the Properties. Now double click on the file icon and see that the file now opens in Word, and rejoice in reading it!

Lost files? Recover them here!
On one day, recently, I found my computer's 'C' drive to have much free space unusually! But when I opened My Document, I found that it was empty - the whole folder contents had been deleted somehow and by somebody. I lamented for having lost all those data that I had been updating earnestly. Luckily, I was advised then to use a software to recover the folder contents. I succeeded in getting back those files, and rejoiced about it. Do you want to visit and have a look at that website? Click on here: Power Data Recovery!

Snag in Google Docs to Blog Posting!
As one meets with a problem, he/she wants it to be solved earlier as far as possible. Whenever there is difficulty in publishing my Blogger blog posts through Google Docs, I try to find out other ways to remove it. One such instant: whenever I typed a text in Google Docs' Document page with a different font and font size (other than the default), inserted an image in it and published my post (article) in the blog, I found that there were always more than one alteration in the font sizes in the post making it look bizarre. Later I noted during such difficult blogging that whenever I highlighted the first paragraph, there was an underlining of the first few lines of it! I tried then different ways to remove it. One that clicked lastly was: selecting the whole typed text present in the document (including the image) and changing the font size first to that with lower numbers one by one, and then increasing the size to that wanted one, again one by one! When I published this document then, I did not get any alteration in size and the blog post was neat.

Another effect with Read More!
In adding the 'Read More' link in the previous post of this blog (dated 14th November 2009) I encountered another strange effect on the same blog post itself! As you can see below in that post, I first selected the middle spot of the words, Kindling Thoughts for this and did it. After publishing the post, as an after effect to that,

Bizarre effect by Read More linking!
While inserting the 'Read More' link to a post of my other Blogger blog there was a bizarre thing that happened to the Home page of the blog: all the texts were blackened out; but only the pictures found on the page stood out enthralling on the black background! I felt sad about it. Then I tried all the means for removing the

Coloring and web-linking texts in Blogging
In blogging if you publish through Google Documents to your Blogger blog, you might come across problems of web-linking the colored texts of the blog post: when you web-link either in Google Document page or in the Post Editor of Blogger, the color of the linked text is obscured by the web-linking blue color. To avoid this problem, first give color to the text only in the Post Editor of Blogger and not in Google Documents. Then link it with website URL. If you had already colored and/or linked the text in Google Documents, then you shall have to remove the link from the text first, then its color and then repeat coloring and web-linking. (For removing the link, first select the text, click on the web-linking icon [Link]on the menu bar of the Post Editor, and then simply click on OK button in the box shown). Sometimes you shall have to even delete the whole text and retype all of it once again in Post Editor and repeat again the process of coloring and web-linking!

Space deletion in Blogger blog post
Whenever you publish Blogger blog post by Google Documents, there will be some alterations in the size or location of fonts, and the presence of empty spaces in the post. One of such changes is the presence of unnecessary space between the title of the blog post and the starting paragraph of the post. If a picture is also there between them, it complicates further the problem: in the Post Editor of Blogger, if you select the picture and try to place it further above, it shifts to another unwanted location! Sometimes the picture itself gets deleted in the process. To delete the unwanted space and avoid other resulting such problems, in the Post Editor place the Insertion Point just before the starting of the paragraph or on the line just above the picture and begin to hit the Back Space key once at a time till the picture with the post text shifts up line by line till the intended space is got below the Post Editor's upper margin. Now publish the post: you have got now the extra space deleted, and the post has become neat for viewing!

Frozen keys in browsing through blogs
As you browse the internet you come across some puzzling things. Out of them I recently met with one: I was viewing a blog chosen from the directory of Entrecard ( a viewer traffic enhancing website). As usual I clicked on the 'Drop' of the Entrecard Blog advertising widget ('Blog of the day') as a token of my visit to that blog. After that I could not view further that blog as I did before that click! The Space bar or (Shift + Space bar), Home key, End key and the Arrow keys lay frozen to my operational movements and so, I could not use them to move the web page up or down! I could use only the Mouse pointer to move the page up or down by holding the Scrollbar.
Similar thing happens after leaving a comment in a blog. Could anyone explain why does this happen? You can share here your own experience about it.

Safeguarding picture in resizing
You may resize a picture using Microsoft Picture Manager. But you cannot get back the original picture with the same clarity as before, when you try to restore its original size again using the Picture Manager, in the reverse way. The original size restored picture here will be blurred like this:
To avoid this, first right click on the picture and then left click on the 'Send To' of the menu shown and send the copy of that picture either to the Desktop or My Document and rename it. Now resize the original picture to the desired size. If you find this resized picture not pleasing delete it, and bring back the copy of it present on the Desktop or the My Document.
Moreover remember that if you do not rename the picture's copy (saved on the Desktop or My Document) beforehand, you will see it also get deleted when you delete the resized undesired picture! Or you can instead of renaming the copy, rename the resized picture to prevent this deletion.

Puzzled Signing-in in Mozilla!
Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on.
Yes, it is the Gmail that helped me to solve this perplexing problem: I had disabled by mistake the Accept cookies from sites check box instead of the Accept third-party cookies in Privacy tab of Option (Tools menu of Mozilla Firefox)! I felt greatly relieved then. You can go through this as a mock exercise and find out how Google helps you in it with its Account Help page.
