Linked URLs returning 404 errors!

I received an e-mail in my inbox from Google Search Console Team informing that 404 errors are in the increase for my other blog. Natural Scientific and Medical Wonders. I checked my blog posts that had been linked with URLs of external websites, and found that the information received is correct.

As I reviewed more and more posts of the blog, I found that the URLs linked in the older posts were only returned wih 404 errors (not found errors). I am reviewing and correcting each post of the blog.
So, I advise Bloggers to link their posts with URLs of permanent and standard websites only to avoid such shortliving-URLs spoiling the uniqueness of the posts.

This site, Sitemeter, can't be reached!

In 2008, when I entered blogging, I wished to know how many people are visiting my blogs. So, I selected Sitemeter as it showed many useful reports about the visitors. In the year 2013, I found in one of my blogs the Sitemeter widget was replaced by a black rectangle! As there were it's widgets in my other blogs, I left out the matter as such.

Later on, recently, I found the widgets' links disappeared in my other blogs too! I found its name only on them and there were no codes for it in them. I could not get the Sitemeter website itself in my computer. There was a display on the computer screen as: 'This site can't be reached.' On googling, I found that Sitemeter is not functioning now! I lost all the benefits of viewing about the visitors' details such as their visiting time, country of origin, the browsers used, from where they visited, which pages they visited and how many minutes they viewed, the last page they viewed and so on.

You can read more about the lost Sitemeter here:

Blogger's new blogging interface!

Blogger has recently changed its blogging interface suddenly. While retaining most of its old interface features, but in a modern format, it has added new features too - like post selection by page numbers in drop down list, view count and comment count for each post, etc. The preference of retaining the old interface is gone; all are commonly presented with only the new Post Editor interface for blog posting. Uploading of images to the Post Editor has been made easier now. Read more about this here --> Moving to the New Blogger Interface.

Picture deletion via Picasa!

Recently, I opened my Picasa Web Albums account and found much space of it occupied by unwanted pictures. I began to delete them one by one to save the storage mbs. Suddenly it struck to me that those pictures are those I used in my blog posts; I opened my blog to see anything happened in it. Yes, I found black squares in the place of pictures: there was picture deletion in all the posts that had the pictures that I deleted in Picasa :( Luckily I had preserved some of those pictures in my computer that I used and saved my blog posts :).

Changing Google Docs!

I do not know whether it is a mere coincidence or not. When I started to open and have the old version of Google Docs for typing my new blog article, I find that my way of blogging through the Google Docs with its old version will not work any more. Only in my previous post I had informed you all about my way of blogging. Now the Google Docs has done away with its old version. Frustrated I have now moved to type in the Blogger Post editor. It is easy to type but it has taken about two hours to publish it to the blog now! It had then taken only twenty minutes to publish through old version of Google Docs. OK. Times are changing as do principles and policies. Let us adapt to these changes and blog our experiences with the web & computers.

Getting the old but golden Google Docs!

Old is gold always for the Bloggers using Google Docs! But it is not easy now to get the old version of Google Docs. Then how Bloggers like me get the old version? Read here the way that I follow routinely whenever I prepare a document for publishing it in a blog as a blog post:
Sign in Google Docs --> click on the white wheel of Options --> select New Features! in the list --> scroll down to New Google document graduates --> click Learn more in it --> The New version of Google documents --> click on the link given at the foot of the page --> old version of Google Docs opens in a separate tab!
But as I have found it tedious to go through all these steps for getting the old version, now I choose this easy way of short cut: open a new tab by clicking '+' on the bar (Mozilla Firefox) --> copy and paste the URL (obtained in the above said way, copied and saved already in a Word file for use at each time!) and get the old version!

Make adamant picture shift!

While blogging, by default a picture is uploaded at the top in the Post Editor (of Blogger). To bring down the picture below the post you shall have to select it and drag it down below the text. But if you then want to change its position there, by dragging to the other positions (e.g. right or the left from the central position) it will go back and refuse to shift! To change its position here you shall have to try this: before uploading this picture, select the 'None' radio button. After uploading and bringing down the picture below the text, simply select the picture by a single click. Then click on the Align Left, Align Center or the Align Right icons found on the menu bar of the Post Editor as you desire. Now the picture would have shifted automatically to the desired position!

Tips for spacing in Blogger posts

In blog posting, bloggers experience certain hurdles in preparing the posts as desired. In Blogger (with old Post Editor), if you want to have a gap between the blog post's title and the first content photo, it will be hard to get it. Here is a way to get it: if the photo is at the centre position hold it with the Pointer and drag it diagonally down either to the left or the right side, to just the width of the photo and release the hold. Now the photo will occupy down a line's space! So, do not drag the photo vertically down, frantically: follow the tips that have been mentioned here.

Blogger, block your Follower!

In Blogger blogs 'Followers' widget is used to display the bloggers who have added themselves to view that blog and to follow it as they wish. If the author of the blog doesn't want a follower to be in the Follower's widget and wants to block him/her, he/she may find it difficult to do that. Here is the procedure for that:
Go to Dashboard ----> Click on the number of Bloggers shown as following ----> On the list of Followers click on the photo of the follower to be removed ----> below his name click on 'Block this user' ----> Click on Block.

Fixing image in Blogger Post Editor

Bloggers, if you want to upload an image in Post Editor of Blogger for publishing it in a blog post, you shall upload that first and then proceed to type the text below it. But after typing the text first, if you want to upload the image below it, that image will be uploaded only above it! To bring the image below you shall click on the image, hold, drag it down and release the hold there. Here you cannot shift also the position of the image to the other places from the uploaded position (the left, center or the right)! You cannot insert images between already typed lines too! Yet you can insert images in these places in another way. Just copy the image from your computer file, place the Insertion Point at the needed place of insertion in the Post Editor and paste. But by default the image will be positioned to the left. To move it to the center or to the right, select it by left clicking on it and then just click once on Center-Align tool icon or the Right-Align tool icon found on the Post Editor Toolbar. You shall now see the image positioned and inserted in the desired place!

Snag in Google Docs to Blog Posting!

As one meets with a problem, he/she wants it to be solved earlier as far as possible. Whenever there is difficulty in publishing my Blogger blog posts through Google Docs, I try to find out other ways to remove it. One such instant: whenever I typed a text in Google Docs' Document page with a different font and font size (other than the default), inserted an image in it and published my post (article) in the blog, I found that there were always more than one alteration in the font sizes in the post making it look bizarre. Later I noted during such difficult blogging that whenever I highlighted the first paragraph, there was an underlining of the first few lines of it! I tried then different ways to remove it. One that clicked lastly was: selecting the whole typed text present in the document (including the image) and changing the font size first to that with lower numbers one by one, and then increasing the size to that wanted one, again one by one! When I published this document then, I did not get any alteration in size and the blog post was neat.

Another effect with Read More!

In adding the 'Read More'
link in the previous post of this blog (dated 14th November 2009) I encountered another strange effect on the same blog post itself! As you can see below in that post, I first selected the middle spot of the words, Kindling Thoughts for this and did it. After publishing the post, as an after effect to that,

Blog Post Title Conversion!

In earlier posts I had given details of conversions in the Blogger blog post contents and about those in the Blogger Post Editor contents. Recently I came across conversion even in the blog post title present in the Post Editor.
You can note the title of the post that I refer to here: in the Archives of my other blog, Kindling Thoughts (dated 13th August 2009).

Bizarre effect by Read More linking!

While inserting the 'Read More' link to a post of my other Blogger blog there was a
bizarre thing that happened to the Home page of the blog: all the texts were blackened out; but only the pictures found on the page stood out enthralling on the black background! I felt sad about it. Then I tried all the means for removing the

Coloring and web-linking texts in Blogging

In blogging if you publish through Google Documents to your Blogger blog, you might come across problems of web-linking
the colored texts of the blog post: when you web-link either in Google Document page or in the Post Editor of Blogger, the color of the linked text is obscured by the web-linking blue color. To avoid this problem, first give color to the text only in the Post Editor of Blogger and not in Google Documents. Then link it with website URL. If you had already colored and/or linked the text in Google Documents, then you shall have to remove the link from the text first, then its color and then repeat coloring and web-linking. (For removing the link, first select the text, click on the web-linking icon [Link]on the menu bar of the Post Editor, and then simply click on OK button in the box shown). Sometimes you shall have to even delete the whole text and retype all of it once again in Post Editor and repeat again the process of coloring and web-linking!

Space deletion in Blogger blog post

Whenever you publish Blogger blog post by Google Documents, there will be some alterations in the size or location of fonts, and the presence of empty spaces in the post. One of such changes is the presence of unnecessary space between the title of the blog post and the starting paragraph
of the post. If a picture is also there between them, it complicates further the problem: in the Post Editor of Blogger, if you select the picture and try to place it further above, it shifts to another unwanted location! Sometimes the picture itself gets deleted in the process. To delete the unwanted space and avoid other resulting such problems, in the Post Editor place the Insertion Point just before the starting of the paragraph or on the line just above the picture and begin to hit the Back Space key once at a time till the picture with the post text shifts up line by line till the intended space is got below the Post Editor's upper margin. Now publish the post: you have got now the extra space deleted, and the post has become neat for viewing!
