In the previous year 2012, the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) started a project called Citizen Sparrow to record the presence or absence of sparrows in India. The project allowed anyone of the public to participate in it. Public enter their past and the present observations on sparrows in its website with a questionnaire. The compiled data is studied and the report is also published on a map for anyone in the world to view.
Though Citizen Sparrow project ended in June 2012, it operates now also, inviting entries in the website. All these are done for finding out places where the sparrow population is declining, and for bringing it back to the normal population as it was before.
Sparrow population has declined worldwide; let us prevent our sparrow disappear as an extinct bird from the world.
